Dear Friends,
Our Lent is off to an excellent start. I've recorded a voicer for you all. Thanks for giving it a listen.
For those who can't listen at this time, here's a quick summary:
- We had excellent crowds on our first two Lenten Fridays for our soup suppers and Stations of the Cross.
- Thursday, I was delighted to reconnect with the Adult Scripture Study group after a hiatus of a few weeks.
- Our shared Lenten offering of the Annual Stewardship Appeal has begun very well. I personally delivered 190 envelopes to the Diocese on Thursday. As of Friday, before those were fully tabulated, we had already reached nearly 60% of our goal. Thank you to all for your generosity and commitment to the Diocese, of which we are a part. If you have not yet participated, please consider joining us in this work today (click here, and be sure to mark it as coming from our Parish).
- My own Lent has begun very intensely:
- I preached a retreat in Nashville, Tennessee for Catholic women physicians. Preaching a retreat is the way I go on retreat. It was a source of great renewal for me and my ordinary work.
- Tuesday and Wednesday, I visitated with two parishes in my role as Dean: Incarnation (here in Charlottesville) and Our Lady of the Rosary (in Crozet).
Have a great Sunday and a great week.
Lenten peace,
Fr. Walter
