Dear Parishioners and Catholic Hoos,
I was notified that an individual who attended a public Mass on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Saint Thomas Aquinas has tested positive for COVID-19. This individual is receiving the appropriate medical attention.
Following government and diocesan protocols, I immediately notified local health officials and our diocesan officials to make them aware of the situation.
Per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and diocesan guidelines, the spaces occupied by this individual will close immediately and remain closed until it can be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. All ministries scheduled to be in these spaces that cannot meet virtually will be cancelled during this time as well. Mass and Confessions on Thursday have been canceled.
Our plan is to have the church closed through the afternoon of July 31st. We will re-open with the 5:15pm Mass on July 31st.
Out of care and concern for every staff member, student, and community members, I urge you to contact your primary health care provider immediately if you feel ill.
Please join me in praying for this individual and all who are affected by COVID-19 at this time.
In Christ,
Father Joseph Barranger, OP
Pastor
